The South Africa winning team of the All Africa Junior team Golf Championship 2013 was honoured during the awards ceremony at the Ambre hotel.
After four days of competition, it is the team of young golfers from South Africa who finished in first place. The team, who was determined to defend its title, put all the odds on its side dominating the championship on the first day. The South African team composed of Thriston Lawrence, Jason Froneman, Tristen Strydom and James Du Preez, the captain, and coached by Llewellyn Van Leeuwen, outdistances the teams of Zimbabwe and Zambia, respectively second and third in the competition. The young South African player of 16 years, Lawrence Thriston, distinguished individually with a score of 297 (79, 70,67, 81).
All the teams have greatly enjoyed the tournament and bravely faced the legendary 18-hole Touessrok Golf Course on the île aux Cerfs Island. The competition, a very pointed, met with the enthusiasm of all the players who were willing to return to Mauritius as soon as possible. The Mauritian Minister of Youth and Sports believes this type of event as very important for the development of golf in Mauritius.
After these four intense days of golf on the beautiful course of LeTouessrok Championship Golf Course, all the teams came together to celebrate the great success of this Golf day in Mauritius. The awards ceremony was held at the Italian restaurant of the Ambre hotel, Dolce Vita, followed by dinner with many guests and local journalists. All the team of the Ambre hotel staff is proud to have hosted these young champions and wish them all the best in their next golfing adventures, including Japan for the winners !
