The 4-star Hôtel Ambre in Mauritius brings back a silver medal and a bronze medal from the sixth edition of the HotelWorld trade fair, held from 15th to 17th May 2013.
The sixth edition of the Vanilla Islands International Hostelry Trade Fair, HotelWorld, was held from 15th to 17th May 2013, at the Centre Swami Vivekananda in Pailles. The trade fair, which will be held every 2 years, is a wonderful meeting place for no fewer than 70 suppliers, including players from the hostelry and catering sectors in Mauritius and neighbouring islands (Réunion, Madagascar, the Seychelles, the Comoros, Mayotte and the Maldives). Through this trade fair, Mauritius’ ambition is to become a platform for the tourism sector in the Indian Ocean region.
The HotelWorld trade fair is organised by Publi-Promo Ltd in partnership with the AHRIM, MTPA, Mauritius Chefs’ Association, Les Toques Blanches, Skal Club, the Sir Gaëtan Duval Hostelry School, Business Magazine, Radio One and the magazine Détente. All kinds of product for hotels and restaurants are brought to the forefront, as well as menus, decoration, hammams, beds, lamps and televisions, and even wine, coffee, spices and furnishings. Amongst other events, cookery competitions are organised, during which the chefs from the 4-star Hôtel Ambre come into a class of their own.
In fact, under the direction of the Executive Chef Vijranand Kallooa, the chefs at the Hôtel Ambre in Mauritius have been brilliantly illustrated in chocolate and vegetable sculpture competitions. The chef Ramsahah won the silver medal for the chocolate competition with his magnificent chocolate animals. And in the vegetable sculpture competition, centred on the theme of Egypt, sous-chef Vikash Deelah and another chef, Hurkoo, won the bronze medal with a splendid sculpture of a Pharaoh in a pumpkin ! You are bound to come across them in one of the restaurants of the 4-star Hôtel Ambre, so do congratulate them : they will be only too pleased to share their delight with you !
